Where are the instruments manufactured?

Sterling instruments are designed alongside Ernie Ball Music Man’s world-class engineers and built in Indonesia to the highest quality standards. After construction, each model is inspected by our Quality Assurance team of professional guitar technicians in Los Angeles.

Does my instrument come with a gig bag?

Included accessories vary by model. Please check the specifications listed on the product page to see if a bag is included.

Why do some instruments come with a battery?

Instruments with batteries feature active electronics:

  • Guitars: The battery powers a 12dB push-push active volume pot.
  • Basses: The battery powers an active EQ (preamp/onboard electronics).
Is there a warranty?

Yes. Sterling instruments are covered by a Limited One-Year Warranty. For full terms and conditions, visit our Warranty page.

Shipping

When will I receive my instrument?

For orders within the United States, expect delivery within 3–7 business days. West Coast orders may arrive sooner since we ship from Los Angeles. Shipping timelines vary for made-to-order and international shipments. 

For all orders, you’ll receive updates via email, including a tracking number once your order is processed.

What are the shipping costs?
  • Most models ship free within the contiguous United States. Shipping to Alaska and Hawaii is available at an additional cost at checkout.
  • Pre-orders, including the Joe Dart Artist Series Bass Collection, incur a $35 flat fee for U.S. shipping.
  • International shipping costs, including duties, customs, and taxes, are calculated at checkout.
  • Shipping excludes APO/FPO and P.O. Box addresses.
How are instruments packaged for shipping?

Our team ensures each instrument is securely packaged for maximum protection. We then coordinate closely with shipping partners to ensure your instrument arrives safe and sound.

What if I won’t be home to receive my order?

When placing an order, you can choose a FedEx location as your delivery address. This gives you the flexibility to pick up your guitar within 5 days of delivery. You can use FedEx’s Location Finder to locate the FedEx holding location nearest to you. Click “More”, select “Hold at location”, and then enter your zip code at the top left.

Note: Upon pick up at FedEx, you’ll need a government-issued ID that matches the name on the delivery address. You'll also be asked to confirm the tracking number sent to you in the order confirmation email.

Returns

What’s the return policy?

We offer 30-day returns for instruments purchased through the official sterlingbymusicman.com website. A handling fee of $25.00 per product will be deducted from your return credit.

What do I do if I have an issue with my delivery?

What’s the cancellation policy?

To see if your order is eligible for cancellation, please contact our support team via email at info@sterlingbymusicman.com. Orders cannot be canceled after shipping. Other exclusions apply.

For the Joe Dart Artist Series Bass Collection, we’re unable to accept cancellations after 5/31 since the bass is made to order.
